The Wisconsin State patrol is giving uninsured drivers warnings for the first 90 days. After that they will enforce the law and fine drivers $10.00 for not having proof of insurance in the vehicle, a $200-$500 fine for not having insurance and a $767-$5,000 fine for false or fraudulent documentations. The Wisconsin State Patrol cannot stop vehicles solely to check for insurance. A driver has to appear in court to contest any citation. Below are the exact guidelines and citation amounts:
