Homeowners insurance policies can come in many shapes and sizes. Regardless of the public perception of how generic they may seem, every homeowners policy is different from another as far as what it covers and how much it costs. Look for a policy that provides Guaranteed Replacement Cost - Dwelling coverage. This is one of the most valuable protections you can have. If your home is destroyed by fire or tornado or some other covered peril, your insurance will replace the home you had regardless of the cost. Some policies will provide an additional 25% or 50% above your policy limits rather than guarantee the replacement so watch for these differences. There are other important coverages to consider when buying homeowners insurance including Water & Sewer Backup, Replacement Cost Protection, Identity Theft Expense, Jewelry riders, Boat & Motor riders and Personal Umbrella coverage. All of these protections are available but not nessesarily included on a basic homeowners policy. Feel free to give us a call about your homeowners insurance questions.
