If your property has been damaged and you must file a claim, here are tips to speed up the claims process.

During a storm:

  1. Stay indoors until the storm subsides.
  2. Close your drapes, blinds or shades to prevent the wind from blowing broken glass inside.

  3. Stay away from skylights, windows and doors.

Protect your property from further damage

  1. Cover any broken windows and holes in your roof so water cannot enter and damage your home’s interior.

  2. Cover any broken windows in your car to prevent damage to the interior from rain.

File your claim

  1. Contact us (608-238-2686) as soon as possible and be prepared to give a description of the damage.

  2. Take photos of damaged areas. This will help you and your adjuster to speed up the claims process.

  3. Save receipts for what you spend and submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Select a repair company

  1. After the adjuster has surveyed the hail damage, select a roofing company or auto body shop to make repairs.
  2. Only let the adjuster and roofer you have selected to get up on your roof. Each time someone walks on it, more damage can occur.
  3. Be sure roofers have workers compensation and liability insurance. If they don’t, you could be liable if one of the workers is injured on your property.
  4. Do not make a final payment to the roofing company until your roof has been inspected.
